Toufeeq Ahmed, PhD, MS, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Biomedical Informatics, Vanderbilt School of Medicine, Vanderbilt University Medical Center

Dr. Toufeeq Ahmed is one of the principal investigators of the NIH-funded AIM-AHEAD program (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Consortium to Advance Health Equity and Researcher Diversity). For this project, he has developed AIM-AHEAD Connect, a learning and community engagement platform. In just seven months since its rollout, Connect platform has more than 1,400 AI experts, mentors, mentees, and learners from across the nation.


Dr. Ahmed is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt School of Medicine. He has over a decade of experience serving in education technology and AI/ML leadership roles. He was Chief Technology Officer for an NSF-funded predictive analytics startup, Founding Director and Executive Director of Education Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and Assistant Dean of Education Informatics for Vanderbilt School of Medicine. He gave an invited TED Talk at TEDx Phoenix 2010. For National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN), Dr. Ahmed designed and developed MyNRMN, a powerful mentoring and learning platform custom-built to support NRMN learners, mentors, and mentees. Over 6,600 mentors and 12,100 mentees are participating on the platform.
